Capitol High is a Washington D.C. based company that provides quality products and ethical packaging. Established in 2013, Capitol High is a leading i-17 compliant company within the District.

During the exploration phase, the owner expressed their attraction and inspiration to the branding of the traditional tobacco rolling paper company, Bambú. Initially founded in 1764 as a Bible paper manufacturer, Bambú evolved into today’s iconic cigarette rolling paper company. Their popularity heightened during the heyday of 20th Century Movies. Today it is rare to see advertisements for cigarette affiliated brands, per current tobacco and drug laws. Bambú remains a widely popular brand, especially within the District where recreational marijuana use is fully legalized.

More design inspiration for the Capitol High brand comes from the angular intersections and road designs of Washington D.C. From an aerial view, the city is an organized grid of roads and expressways. Nestled between these bustling roads are public green lawns and parks. The city is dotted with beautiful, often gifted plants from other countries; a blossoming sign of hospitality. Branding of Capitol High takes this aspect into consideration, and the city’s grids are reflected in the brand’s atmospheric backgrounds.

Lastly, through our product study we determined recreational material from other companies contained multiple levels of thermoplastic packaging. These useless, wasteful materials typically serve no other purpose than product presentation; to catch the viewer’s eye at the dispensary. Capitol High maintains sustainable, reusable packaging for all of the products they offer.
